Good afternoon Critical Thinkers!
This is an update on what happened at JALT 2015 last weekend from James Dunn, your new CT SIG Coordinator:
First: for the members (new and old) who came to our forum and AGM: Thank you so much for being there with us! We were really happy to meet our members and put faces with names. Also, if you are one of the ones who volunteered to help out with the CT SIG: THANK YOU!!!! We are always looking for ways to get members more active in the SIG’s on-goings.
Some information:
1 – Roehl Sybing and David Gann have stepped down from their posts at Program Chair and Coordinator (respectively). To be succeeded by James Dunn as the Coordinator and Jennie Roloff-Rothman as the Program chair. If you know Roehl or Dave, you know they have given a lot to this SIG. More than we could have ever asked them to. The incoming officers would like to thank both of them for starting this SIG and helping to make it what it has become.
Jennie and I are both very committed to keeping this SIG growing. We will need our members help to do that. Helping out with reviewing, editing, presenting, and writing for the SIG can go a long way to make this group the professional organization we know it can be. We are here for you to help you learn more about CT and share your ideas about CT.
2 – Hiroshi Nakagawa has replaced Tremain Xenos as the Treasurer (Thank you Tremain for all your service over the years!) Hiroshi will take over the monthly financial reporting for our SIG to JALT National.
3 – We will have a CT SIG EVENT next month in Sendai! Look for more information on that soon! (It will be posted on the Website and the Facebook page)
4 – We will have ANOTHER CT SIG EVENT next year on February 21st with the JALT Yokohama Chapter. We are looking forward to sharing CT related methodology and ideas with the awesome JALT Yokohama members. Of course, as the date gets closer, we will put more information on the website and Facebook page.
5 – We are planning YET ANOTHER CT SIG EVENT in August of next year with the SDD SIG. We are really excited about this one. Look for a call for abstract soon. We would like to get as many CT SIG members presenting at this conference as possible! Keep tuned to the website and Facebook page for more details!
6 – CTLL Vol. 3: We are now accepting manuscripts for next year’s CTLL journal. If you have something you would like to share, send it to editor@jaltcriticalthinking.org to start the peer-review process! Tentative deadline for submission is the end of June, 2016.
Well, that is about it for me. I know it was a lot of information, but your CT SIG is working very hard to spread the words and ideas of our members. We hope even more members will become active with presenting and publishing with the CT SIG in 2016.
Thank you for being a part of our group of Critical Thinkers!
Warm regards,
James D. Dunn
Coordinator – JALT CT SIG
